We recently grabbed a coffee with our colleague and Patient Care Advisor, Amber O’Hara. In this interview she shares insights into her role, how she supports patients, and why Phlo is the best option for hassle-free medication management. Read on to discover how Amber and the Phlo team are creating game changing pharmacy experiences, one patient at a time.

Can you tell us a little about yourself and what made you join Phlo?

I have always worked within customer service and my last role being within mental health and substance misuse with a charity based on bridging the gap between services and those who access them. I was drawn to working with Phlo as they genuinely care about supporting people and giving the best possible service.

What are your responsibilities at Phlo and what does a typical day in your role look like?

The role of a patient care advisor is to be the first point of contact to help any of our patients with any questions they may have and helping them any way we can. Our role is to help bridge the gap between GP surgeries and the patient. We are here to make sure the journey between requesting medication to it arriving with patients goes smoothly, and we regularly communicate with GP surgeries, our pharmacy teams, and our delivery partners to ensure patients receive the highest level of care possible.

How do you support patients and guarantee they receive exceptional service?

For me, it is always important to take the time to really listen to our patients and work with them to find what they need to feel supported, whether that be a phone call to update them, or being able to explain how the process works so they have a better understanding of what is happening.

What (in your opinion) is the most important aspect of your job?

The most important part of my job I would say is being able to be there for our patients when they need us. Should this be by phone call, email or using our live chat. This allows us to help support our patients when they need it most without having to spend a lot of time waiting.

What motivates you personally?

I would say I am motivated by striving to help our patients. Being able to take some of the stress that can come with managing repeat medication and making it as easy and smooth as possible.

Why should people switch to using Phlo to get their medication?

I think people should switch to Phlo as I am a big believer that we should make the most of our time. Time has so much value and with Phlo it makes requesting medication quick and easy without having to call your GP surgery directly, or pop in once a month. It can all be done in a few clicks at any time of the day that works best for everyone.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends usually going to a beach or nature walk to explore. I also really love learning new skills, dancing, and taking time to be creative. My most recent way was learning how to crochet, although I’m still working on making a hat to match the scarf I made.
